UFC Vegas 107 Weigh-Ins Fail to Go Off Without a Hitch

The official weigh-ins for UFC Vegas 107 faced significant challenges, as four fights on the scheduled 11-fight card were impacted. The spotlight was on Maycee Barber, who struggled to make weight for her flyweight headliner against Erin Blanchfield.

Barber, appearing noticeably depleted, weighed in at 126.5 pounds, which is half a pound over the allowable limit for a non-title flyweight contest. As a result of her failure to meet the weight requirement, she will forfeit 20% of her purse to Blanchfield. Despite this setback, the main event will proceed as planned, with Blanchfield successfully weighing in at the limit of 125 pounds.

In a similar situation, flyweight veteran Allan Nascimento also faced repercussions for missing weight. He tipped the scales at 127.5 pounds, exceeding the flyweight limit by 1.5 pounds for his undercard bout against Jafel Filho, who weighed in at 126 pounds. Like Barber, Nascimento will also be penalized with a 20% purse deduction for his infraction.

Adding to the weigh-in troubles, longtime contender Ketlen Vieira encountered her own weight management issues, forcing her bantamweight bout against Macy Chiasson to be contested at featherweight. This alteration came with its own consequences, as Vieira will forfeit a larger portion of her purse, 25%, due to the change in weight class.

To further complicate the event, injury has forced Trevin Giles to withdraw from his scheduled 180-pound catchweight bout against Andreas Gustafsson. This withdrawal leaves UFC Vegas 107 with a reduced card of 10 fights, following Giles’ anticipated replacement of Gustafsson's original opponent, Jeremiah Wells, who had previously pulled out.
