Tragic Collision Claims Life of Young Child and Injures Three Others on Far South Coast

An unfortunate accident has unfolded this afternoon on the Far South Coast, resulting in the death of a six-year-old child and injuries to three others. Emergency services responded swiftly to Towamba Road, Nullica, located approximately 10 kilometers south-west of Eden, following reports of a serious collision involving a dual-cab utility vehicle and a truck.

The incident occurred around 4:10 PM on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. Upon their arrival, first responders discovered that the child, who was a passenger in the utility vehicle, had tragically succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The driver of the ute, identified as a man in his 30s, along with a three-year-old girl also in the vehicle, suffered multiple injuries and have since been airlifted to safety from Merimbula Airport.

A third passenger, an eight-year-old girl, was transported to South-East Regional Hospital in Bega for further medical attention. Meanwhile, the truck driver, believed to be in his 50s, was also taken to the same hospital for mandatory testing and treatment for shock he experienced following the incident.

The circumstances surrounding the crash are currently under investigation. Officers from the Southern Region Crash Investigation Unit are on their way to analyze the scene thoroughly. In the meantime, Towamba Road has been closed for several hours to facilitate the investigation.
