Traffic Snarled in Wilson Due to Cabin Relocation Mishap

WILSON, Wyo. — June 5 Traffic Trouble

The morning commute along WY22 through Wilson, Wyoming, turned into a slow crawl on Thursday, June 5, as traffic was significantly disrupted. The cause of the congestion was revealed by the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT), who explained that a cabin—being relocated on a large truck—encountered serious difficulties.

According to WYDOT, the cabin experienced multiple incidents where it “fell off the trailer several times.” This unfortunate event occurred near the construction site of the Snake River Bridge, where the issues persisted. In response to the situation, WYDOT, alongside Ames Construction, took swift action by removing the concrete barrier and designating a temporary parking area. This was done to facilitate the relocation and minimize the growing traffic backlog.

As of 8 a.m., traffic was reported to be resuming, albeit at a slower rate. WYDOT acknowledged that clearing the congestion would still take some time, urging motorists for their patience during the resolution of the incident.

This incident serves as a reminder of the complexities involved in transporting large structures and how such activities can unexpectedly impact daily travel in the area. Marianne, the Editor of Buckrail, noted the importance of community engagement in reporting such news, emphasizing the diversity and vibrancy of local life, from arts and entertainment to the unpredictable Wyoming weather.
