Senator Tommy Tuberville, the Alabama Republican currently serving a term in the Senate that will conclude in 2026, has officially declared his intention to pursue the governor's mansion in Alabama. Tuberville made the announcement during an interview with Fox News' Will Cain, proclaiming, "Today I will announce that I will be the future governor of the great state of Alabama." In emphasizing his commitment, he stated, "I'm doing this to help this country and the great state of Alabama. I'm a football coach, I'm a leader, I'm a builder, I'm a recruiter. And we're going to grow Alabama." A campaign website, coachforgovernor.com, has also been launched to support his candidacy.

At 70 years old, Tuberville was first elected to the Senate in 2020 after a notable career as the head football coach at Auburn University. His political ascent is noteworthy, as he had no previous experience in public office when he entered the Senate. Tuberville has aligned himself closely with former President Donald Trump, becoming a vocal supporter and defender of Trump's policies during his brief, yet impactful, time in the Senate.
