The university has filed a legal complaint seeking a temporary restraining order as part of its efforts to challenge the ruling. In a statement, the Office of the President of Harvard University articulated that the federal government's revocation of Harvard's certification under the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) directly affects the institution's ability to sponsor visas for international students and scholars for the 2025-26 academic year.
