Production has begun on the next feature film from “A Real Pain” director Jesse Eisenberg, and A24 has already acquired the rights to distribute it.

Jesse Eisenberg, best known for his acting work, continues to make strides as a filmmaker with his upcoming, untitled feature film. Following the success of his sophomore film, "A Real Pain," which garnered critical acclaim including an Oscar win for Best Supporting Actor for Kieran Culkin, Eisenberg is poised to further establish his directorial identity in Hollywood. A24, the production house recognized for its support of unique indie films, has once again partnered with Eisenberg following the distribution of his directorial debut. This new project will star notable actors Julianne Moore and Paul Giamatti, joined by an impressive ensemble cast including Halle Bailey and Bernadette Peters. The story centers on a shy woman who unexpectedly finds herself in a community theater production and goes to extreme lengths as she embraces her role. The potential humor stemming from this premise, mixed with Eisenberg's original music and lyrics, offers an exciting glimpse into what appears to be a heartfelt, yet comedic exploration of self-discovery through art. The blend of seasoned musical talent, particularly from Peters, is likely to elevate the production, contributing to the film's charm and appeal. Moreover, the comedic dynamic between the experienced performers and Moore, who is less seasoned in musicals, promises to enrich the narrative. With well-established professionals such as music supervisor Steven Gizicki and Tony-winning choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler also attached to the project, there’s significant anticipation for this film. As production began this month, it's evident Eisenberg is not only committed to expanding his storytelling abilities but also to delivering a compelling fusion of theater and film. While details on release dates and schedules remain unclear, the excitement surrounding Eisenberg’s progression as a director suggests that audiences are in for a treat. Considering the involvement of A24, acclaimed for producing quality independent films, the expectation levels for this project are undoubtedly high.
