Mayor Sandy Stimpson Announces Year-Round Cruise Operations for Mobile Starting 2027

In a significant boost for Mobile’s tourism sector, Mayor Sandy Stimpson revealed on Tuesday afternoon that American Cruise Lines will dock in Mobile four times in 2026. This announcement highlights the city's appeal as a destination for cultural experiences, especially given its rich history. Mayor Stimpson remarked, "They want to take people to ports where there are cultural experiences, and with Mobile as old as we are, they feel like there will be a lot of things here to see that would be of interest to their cruisers." This initiative is not only a welcome development for local tourism but also aligns with American Cruise Lines' focus on small-ship cruising that enhances exploration of the USA's waterways, including routes through the Pacific Northwest and coastal cruises extending to Florida. Additionally, Mobile's relationship with Carnival Cruise Line is strengthening, as the latter announced their plan to resume year-round sailings from Mobile starting in the spring of 2027. This decision by Carnival is testament to the city's exceptional customer service and infrastructure improvements at the Mobile Alabama Cruise Terminal, including the recent installation of a new gangway. Carnival Spirit, which has been operational six months a year since 2023, is set to return for its regular seasonal schedule soon.
