M-14 Reconstruction Project Causes Commute Headaches for Detroit Drivers

This morning marked the beginning of a significant reconstruction project on Michigan's M-14 corridor which is expected to complicate commuting for many drivers in the Detroit metro area. Starting at 6 a.m., the ramp from Northbound I-275 to Eastbound I-96 has been closed and will remain so until late June. Additional closures include the SB I-275 to I-96 ramp which will be shut down between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., and the Eastbound I-96 exit to Newburgh Road, also designated to stay closed until late June. These changes are part of a broader initiative initiated in February by the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) aimed at enhancing the region’s road infrastructure. Traffic reporter Ali Hoxie provided commuters with suggested detours, emphasizing the importance of planning for longer travel times due to these closures.
