Lorry driver arrested after pedestrian's death near dual carriageway in North Wales

In a tragic road traffic incident on April 15, 2025, a 35-year-old man named David Emrys 'Junior' Williams was found dead on the A55 in Bodelwyddan, Denbighshire, following a collision with a heavy goods vehicle (HGV). Emergency services arrived on the scene at 8:14 AM, only to find that the man had succumbed to his injuries. According to the North Wales Police, a 62-year-old lorry driver was arrested in connection with the incident but has since been released under investigation as inquiries continue. The police have urged any witnesses or individuals with dashcam footage of the area between St Asaph and Abergele around the time of the incident, specifically from 4:50 AM to 5:10 AM, to come forward. Meanwhile, road closures lasted for approximately eight hours while investigations were conducted. Williams' family expressed their profound grief in a tribute, describing him as a beloved son and father, leaving behind three young children. The police reiterated the importance of not speculating regarding the incident online, to avoid potentially prejudicing any future court proceedings. Furthermore, a Home Office post-mortem examination is reported to take place to clarify the circumstances surrounding his passing. The ongoing investigation underscores the necessity for community cooperation in providing any crucial evidence to aid in understanding how this tragic event unfolded. This incident not only reflects the hazards of road traffic but also serves as a reminder of the human toll such accidents can have on families and communities, emphasizing the need for greater awareness and caution on the roads.
