The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) has announced that the highly anticipated documentary John Candy: I Like Me will serve as the opening-night film for its upcoming 2025 edition. Directed by Colin Hanks and produced by Ryan Reynolds, I Like Me pays tribute to the life and career of John Candy, a cherished figure in Canadian comedy. Candy's roots trace back to Toronto, where he began his journey in the famed Second City troupe. He later rose to fame through iconic performances in films such as Stripes, Splash, and Planes, Trains and Automobiles.
