Investigation Continues into Disappearance of Queensland Teen

Forensics Teams Examine Evidence in the Search for Pheobe Bishop

Forensics teams are thoroughly investigating items discovered in bushland south-west of Bundaberg, Queensland, which may be linked to the ongoing disappearance of 17-year-old Pheobe Bishop. These items were located in the Good Night Scrub National Park on Monday, as police extended their search efforts utilizing sniffer dogs and divers in the area.

Detectives speculated that crucial evidence was possibly removed from the scene prior to the arrival of search crews, prompting them to broaden their search area in hopes of uncovering more information.

Renewed Appeals for Public Assistance

In light of the recent developments, police have reiterated their request for public assistance. Specifically, they are seeking any footage of a grey Hyundai ix35 that may have been connected to Pheobe's last known whereabouts. Pheobe was reportedly last seen on May 15, when it is believed she was to board a flight from Bundaberg to Western Australia. However, detectives are now investigating the claim, as CCTV footage indicates she never entered the airport terminal.

Authorities are particularly interested in any sightings of the vehicle from May 15 to May 18, especially in the Gin Gin area, which is located approximately 45 kilometers south-west of Bundaberg. They have mentioned the relevance of Mingo Road and Gayndah Road in their inquiries.

Housemate Arrested in Unrelated Incident

Amidst the investigation, a woman who was living with Pheobe has been arrested and charged with weapons violations in Millbank, a suburb of Bundaberg. Authorities clarified that these charges do not pertain to Pheobe's disappearance. The police discovered a shortened firearm, ammunition, and two replica handguns in her car, along with additional ammunition located in their residence in Gin Gin. The grey Hyundai ix35 and the home have since been designated as crime scenes during the investigation.

The housemate was arrested on Sunday and was scheduled for a court appearance the following Monday.

Search Efforts Intensified

Efforts to locate Pheobe have been ongoing, with search crews having first expanded their area of investigation last week to sweep through bushland and surrounding towns. The national park has now emerged as a focal point for police searches since late last week, particularly after investigating around the Paradise Dam area, where sniffer dogs were deployed shortly before midday on Sunday. Support from the SES and Queensland Fire Department has also been enlisted to aid in the search operations.

Conclusion

The ongoing search for Pheobe Bishop remains a high priority for local authorities as they piece together the events leading up to her disappearance. The situation is fluid, with police urging the community to come forward with any relevant information or footage that might assist in resolving this troubling case.
