India Loses Top Arms Importer Status to Ukraine Amid Shift in Global Defense Dynamics

In particular, Russia's armament exports have plummeted by 64% over the past five years due to a combination of direct battlefield needs and sanctions that have hampered its production capabilities. Moreover, Europe has also shown staggering increases in arms imports, mainly from the United States, which has risen to around 64% of total European arms imports since the onset of the Ukraine crisis. This growing reliance raises significant questions regarding the continent's aspirations for strategic autonomy.
