This closure is projected to be the final weekend of work concerning this specific project. However, due to the unpredictable nature of Seattle's weather, the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) has strategically planned for backup closure dates from June 13-16 and July 18-21 if necessary.

Alternative Routes and Traffic Impact

During the closure, travelers and commuters should expect potential congestion in the area, particularly for those relying on the bridge to access points in Ballard and beyond. SDOT urges drivers to consider alternative routes, specifically recommending the Aurora Bridge and Fremont Bridge, to circumvent expected traffic delays.

The closure specifically targets the overpass at the bridge's north end, which crosses over Leary Way NW. Crews will conduct essential seismic retrofit work, a necessary upgrade to ensure safety and structural integrity in the event of natural disturbances.

Navigating the Closure

For those traveling southbound on 15th Ave NW, you will be required to exit at Leary Way and use the on-ramp to access the Ballard Bridge. Alternatively, drivers heading north will also exit down to Leary Way using the off-ramp after crossing the bridge, continuing into Ballard thereafter.

Fortunately, local access will remain open between NW Market St and NW 51st, allowing residents and businesses in that vicinity to avoid the brunt of traffic disruption.
