China and Cambodia Bolster Economic Ties through Major Canal Agreement

In a significant development for economic cooperation in Southeast Asia, China and Cambodia have announced plans to establish safe and stable supply chains and bolster infrastructure collaboration. This agreement, released in a joint statement from China's foreign ministry on April 18, came at the conclusion of Chinese President Xi Jinping's three-nation tour, which also included Vietnam and Malaysia. Financing will be structured through a public-private partnership with local Cambodian investors holding a 51% share and Chinese investors 49%.
