Britain’s Defense Minister Urges Coalition to Prepare Troops for Ukraine Peacekeeping

In a significant meeting held at NATO headquarters in Brussels, U.K. Defense Secretary John Healey has called for a pressing commitment from around 30 countries to expedite plans for deploying troops to Ukraine, which would serve as a security force in the event of a peace agreement with Russia. Stressing the urgency, Healey indicated that military planners are actively creating strategies for deeper European involvement in supporting Ukraine, aiming to ensure readiness when a ceasefire is reached. The underlying concern expressed during the discussions was over the potential Russian military offensive aimed at strengthening Moscow's leverage in negotiations. Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov reiterated Ukraine's readiness for a peace that is just and fortified by strength.
