Blumhouse Unveils Exciting Sequels and Gaming Ventures at CCXP Mexico

Fright Factory Reveals Anticipated Releases

During the recent CCXP Mexico event, Blumhouse founder and CEO Jason Blum marked the company's 15th anniversary with an exciting announcement, showcasing a series of highly awaited sequels in the horror genre. The unveiled projects include THE BLACK PHONE 2 and FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY’S 2, set to hit theaters on October 17 and December 5 respectively.

Return of The Grabber

Continuing the narrative from its predecessor, BLACK PHONE 2 is directed by Scott Derrickson, who co-wrote the script with C. Robert Cargill. This sequel promises a gripping storyline as it follows the malevolent character The Grabber, portrayed once again by Ethan Hawke, who is set to seek vengeance on Finn, played by Mason Thames, by also threatening the safety of Finn's younger sister, Gwen (portrayed by Madeleine McGraw). The cast further includes Oscar nominee Demián Bichir as a camp supervisor, alongside familiar faces like Jeremy Davies returning as Finn and Gwen’s father.

More Animatronic Horror

The sequel FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY’S 2 will again be directed by Emma Tammi, promising to delve deeper into the terror of animatronic creatures that have become synonymous with the franchise. This film is expected to further explore the horror elements that captivated audiences in its predecessor.

Expanding the Blumhouse Universe: Blumhouse Games

In addition to the film announcements, Blumhouse launched a thrilling glimpse into its gaming division with a “sizzle reveal” for Blumhouse Games. Following the positive reception of their first game, FEAR THE SPOTLIGHT, Blumhouse is dedicated to enhancing its portfolio with creative storytelling in gaming. Upcoming titles include:

  • CRISOL: A first-person action-adventure game set in a dark, twisted vision of Spain.
  • SLEEP AWAKE: A psychedelic journey exploring the eerie transition between sleep and death.
  • GRAVE SEASONS: A unique game merging family dynamics, fishing escapades, and the thrill of hunting a serial killer.
  • PLUG: This new co-op horror title is aimed at delivering collaborative scares.

With these announcements, Blumhouse continues to establish its reputation as a powerhouse in both the film and gaming industries, promising audiences a mix of chilling narratives and imaginative experiences.
