Biden Signs Social Security Fairness Act, Ending WEP and GPO Provisions

On January 5, 2025, then-President Joe Biden signed into law the Social Security Fairness Act, which successfully eliminates the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and Government Pension Offset (GPO).
