Emergency medical services arrived promptly, treating her injuries before transferring her to Liverpool Hospital, where she remains in serious but stable condition.

Following the assault, local law enforcement conducted an area search and apprehended the woman’s partner, a 59-year-old man. He was subsequently taken to Bankstown Hospital for a mental health assessment while in police custody. He has been charged with wounding/grievous bodily harm with intent to murder. Notably, the victim has sought a provisional Apprehended Violence Order (AVO) against him.

Another Case in Auburn

Approximately 12 hours earlier, a separate incident unfolded in Auburn. A 24-year-old woman sought medical attention at Auburn Hospital for serious injuries, prompting police involvement. Upon interviewing the victim, authorities established a crime scene at her residence in Auburn. The woman’s 23-year-old partner was taken into custody at the hospital, facing charges of attempting to strangle or suffocate with intent to murder, along with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. Police allege that the assault took place in the couple's unit between 6 PM and 10 PM the previous night.

The incidents in Cabramatta and Auburn contribute to a troubling trend of domestic violence in New South Wales. Data from the NSW Bureau of Crime Statistics and Research indicates that there were a staggering 38,272 recorded domestic violence assault incidents in the year leading up to December 2024.
